PERA Selects New Executive Director

September 30, 2021

The New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) Board of Trustees voted (9-1) to select long-time serving Deputy Director, Greg Trujillo as PERA’s new Executive Director in today’s annual board meeting.

Trujillo has been employed with PERA for over eight years as the Deputy Director and has been serving as the Acting Executive Director since February 2021. Trujillo also worked for PERA’s sister agency, the Educational Retirement Board (ERB) for over ten years.

“I’m excited for the opportunity and look forward to working with the PERA Board and Staff to continue serving our members,” says Trujillo.

Trujillo has been commended for helping to overhaul PERA operations and for playing a critical role in the passage of Senate Bill (SB72).

PERA Acting Board Chair, Francis Page says that he is happy to announce that the PERA Board has approved and selected Trujillo as the permanent Executive Director. “As Acting Chair, through the last nine months, I have worked very closely with Mr. Trujillo and found him to be a very capable and qualified individual for the position. Now PERA can move forward with its work,” says Page.

With this designation, PERA can begin the hiring process for a General Counsel and Chief Investment Officer, which have both been vacant for the past few months.

PERA recently announced that the PERA Trust Fund reached a value of just over $18 billion, which is an all-time high for PERA.
