PERA Offices To Close

March 13, 2020

PRESS RELEASE - PERA OFFICES TO CLOSE

The Albuquerque and Santa Fe offices of the Public Employees Retirement Association of New Mexico (PERA) will be closing until further notice. It is anticipated that the closures will last until New Mexico public schools resume normal operations.

“This is not an easy decision, but we are making it in the best interest of our members and staff.” Board Chair John Melia and Executive Director Wayne Propst said in a joint statement.

While the offices will be closed, essential services will continue.

“We want to assure our retirees that PERA will continue regular, monthly retirement benefit payments throughout the period that our offices are closed. Because of prior business continuity planning and the work of PERA staff over the past two weeks, the retiree payroll process is secure and will be processed as usual. Additionally, all investment related financial transactions will continue to be processed and a limited number of PERA staff, including senior management will continue to come to the office to manage other day-to-day business transactions.”

“We know that there will be disruptions as a result of these closures, but we ask for patience from our members during this time.”

PERA members are encouraged to check www.nmpera.org for updates. Updates will also be posted to PERA’s social media platforms.
