National Save for Retirement Week

National Retirement Security Week – October 16-22

National Retirement Security Week is a national effort to raise public awareness about the importance of saving for retirement. Held every year during the third week of October, the week provides an opportunity for employees to reflect on their personal retirement goals and determine if they are on target to reach those goals.

National Retirement Security Week started in 2006, when the US Senate introduced a resolution establishing National Save for Retirement Week. The goal was to elevate public knowledge about retirement savings and to encourage employees to save and participate in their employer-sponsored retirement plans. The US Senate recently passed another resolution continuing their support of National Retirement Security Week in 2016.

Today, both employers and employees around the US take part in this exciting week. NM PERA encourages you to participate and take advantage of the educational resources that are offered through the PERA Smart Save website, www.newmexico457dc.com. Whether you are just starting out in your career or are nearing retirement, it’s always a good idea to review your financial outlook and make the necessary adjustments to achieve retirement security.

During National Retirement Security Week, representatives from Nationwide will be available to discuss the PERA Smart Save Plan and assist you with enrolling. To schedule an on-site visit at your place of employment, contact your area representative:
